The position control is an adaptation of Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) system. The scope includes the simulation and modelling of DC motor, fuzzy controller and conventional PID controller as benchmark to the performance of fuzzy system. FPD controller succeeded to reject the disturbance signal without further tuning of the parameters whereby crisp PD controller failed The purpose of this project is to control the position of DC Motor by using Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) with MATLAB application. A disturbance signal was also applied to the input of the control system. Then a fuzzy proportional-derivative (FPD) controller was designed and system responses of FPDs with different defuzzification methods were investigated. First, a crisp proportional-derivative (PD) controller was designed and tuned using a Simulink block instead of conventional tuning methods such as hand-tuning or Ziegler-Nichols frequency response method. The motor was modelled and converted to a subsystem in Simulink. Results in this paper shows that the proposed fuzzy based control approach produces faster speed response with very less rise time and settling time as compared to the conventional PI controller.Ī fuzzy control system to control the position of a DC motor. The fuzzy controller is compared with conventional PI controller for speed response. In this paper, MATLAB/Simulink model is designed and developed for fuzzy Logic based speed control of PMDC motor.

Considering such a wide range of applications of PMDC motors, the proposed fuzzy logic-based speed control approach will be more convenient as compared to the traditional PI (Proportional-Integral) based speed control technique. Also, PMDC motors are used for auxiliary application purposes in industry, e.g., cranes, air compressors, blowers and lifts.

It has constant speed from no load to full load, higher energy density and simplicity in construction which opens a wide range of household uses such as hair drier, vacuum cleaner, fans and sewing machines. Permanent Magnet Direct Current (PMDC) brushed motors are widely used in various industrial applications like drills, boring mills, lathe machines, spinning and weaving machines.
